On another manual vehicle

Kinja'd!!!

Just ordered a Shoei Qwest in anthracite.... Does that give you a hit towards what I am going to buy?

That is right. I am rejoining the 2 wheel master race. I haven’t had a bike in years, but my coworker just bought a new ‘17 Yamaha FZ07 and one of our vendors/coworker’s friend and him go riding and I have a few friends that ride and I miss it. So a new helmet was needed regardless of what bike I get.

So now I am sure Oppo wants to know what bike I am looking at...

Well a 2007 Buell XB12SS Lightning Long

Kinja'd!!!

Disregard the seat cover. I can only imagine it is there for “your pleasure”

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This beautiful naked bike is powered by the Harley Davidson from the Sportster, though saying that is is the same motor is like saying your 6.0L in your pickup is the same as an LS2. It just isn’t the same. Tuned for more power and more preformance.

Kinja'd!!!

This beautiful 1203cc V-Twin produces 103 hp @6800 and 84 ft-lbs @6000. And what a noise from a sport bike

So now just to save a few more pennies and pick up a nice used example. I am quite excited

As I said, it is for your pleasure. The V-Twin is a very very rumbly engine if you catch my drift. I honestly have no idea, but if the bike comes with it, I am throwing it away.

I love those bikes! Saying it has the engine from a Sportster is doing it a disservice though. Derived from but hardly the same.

Oh I know, it is like saying the 6.0L in you pick up is the same as an LS. I will update to reflect this

They really do sound great. The sound difference between an off the shelf HD turd and one that actually makes power is astounding. Kinda like the sound difference between a TBI 350 with glasspacks and  a 350 with a cam and some compression .

Exactly. I particularly like this video cause you can see it perform in traffic and it just makes me want it more

You must be staying in Cali then I imagine! Certainly does seem like the place to have a bike. If I had a commute from hell on the 405 or something like that, it would be the only option for sure.

Although my commute is technically on the 405 now considering I drive to LAX every week but its at obscenely early hours so theres only mild traffic at 5am.

Yeah still planning on moving to LA here at some point, so having a bike if I get a job where I need to commute would be good.

Besides that I love riding and it’ll be nice to have if my Goat is ever down for reasons too.

I just can’t get over the incredible risk of dying at any given moment. Sure I still worry about dying while driving with a cage around me but moreso it’s worry about my car being murdered rather than me. Well in the Subaru at least. The Miata I am probably just as dead anyways.

I don’t know. I’ve ridden on empty country roads, dirt trails, sand dunes, and traffic in LA. The only time I thought I was going to die was my literal first time on a bike at 7 at the Pismo dunes. They I landed on my ass and I’ve never been afraid of that since. I have too much fun, even enjoy puttering through stopped 405 traffic at 25 mph.

I also try to be courteous to “regular” drivers and I am pretty vigilant even when in my car. I say if you are afraid of dying though then definatley try off roading a bike or a dual sport. It is a lot of fun.

Well if I buy it and you’re in my neck of the woods, then you can ride it
